A letter of deep gratitude from Executive Chef Mo Aoki

Our dearest and loyal customers,

After 33 years of business, it is with a very heavy heart that I share the sad news that our beloved downtown location of Mye Japanese Restaurant has officially closed its doors. I am humbled by the countless cherished memories of our customers, friends, staff, and my family.

35 years ago, after being invited by then-mayor Harry Barrett to open the town’s first Japanese restaurant, my wife and I moved to Oakville from Tokyo on a very cold winter day with our young children. Since that pivotal moment, Mye has been nurtured with open arms by the Oakville community and beyond. My gratitude is immeasurable. We’ve been honoured to have celebrated three decades of birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, graduations, holidays and so much more together.

After selling the downtown property in January, we had hopes in spending the restaurant’s last years with a final meal and a toast with you all. Unfortunately, sheltering from the pandemic quickly became a new priority. While this feels very unceremonious, I have no doubt that we will come out the other side of this and dine together soon to create new memories again.

We now pour our dedication into our uptown location, Mye 2 Japanese Restaurant, of which many of you have quickly adopted. We continue our commitment to the same high quality standards for food and service that you have come to know and expect. We hope you’ll visit us there for distanced indoor dining and takeout, and continue enjoying the Mye traditions from the safety of your home.

From the bottom of my heart, and from my family to yours, I thank you for all of your unconditional support, friendship, and continued patronage.

Sincerely yours,
Mo Aoki

Thank You

A HUGE thank you to our supporters for another successful event! Feast for Good 2018 was truly a spectacular celebration and we could not have made it happen without the unwavering support of our dear guests, generous sponsors, and the whole Mye team. Words cannot describe how fun this year's party was and we sincerely thank everyone for taking part in helping us support the Oakville Hospital Foundation!
